Shandong Hotel is located in downtown Jinan, close to Qianfo Mountain to the east, overlooking Daming Lake and Baotu Springs to the north. The main building of Shandong Hotel was designed by the world-famous Atlanta-based John Portman & Associates Inc. and the internal design was made by Australia-based Woodhead International. Six sightseeing elevators in the lobby shuttling upward and downward around-the-clock give you the feeling of flying up through the air. The 5th floor over the back lobby constitute a symmetric 八-shaped overhead bridge, on which the guests would feel as if they are walking in the sky.

Shandong Hotel has 15 dining halls with 50 private dining apartments of different styles，which can be able to accommodate about 2,000 people for dining at the same time. In the Conference Center, modeled upon the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, there are 17 splendid meeting rooms named after the 17 major cities and five large state-owned enterprises of Shandong Province. In addition, we have other meeting facilities available which include the Movie and Television Meeting Hall, the Multimedia Meeting Hall, the VIP Hall, and the Multi-function Hall. In regard to garden greening, Shandong Hotel, with the hope of beautifying the living environment of guests and Jinan city, put greening project as one of the most significant projects in the spring of 2008. The Hotel hired professional garden designer to design the project. The design of sight spots adopts modern method of using big trees as main scene and various plants as background scene instead of the traditionally used “tree array” form, showing the beauty of deep, natural and fresh.
When the greening project is finished, the courtyard environment of the Hotel will be improved: thick green trees, beautiful flowers, birds, old trees, and precious trees will become new scene. In the near future, a new ecological garden will come into existence.
